Painting with kids can be intimidating. The mess alone can send a tired mama over the edge.

I am a former 1st-grade teacher and still, the thought of getting out our paints, makes me pause and wonder if it is worth it.

Painting helps toddlers and children develop hand-eye coordination which is so important at their age. It also helps their creative development and involves all of their senses: seeing, touching, feeling, smelling, and hearing. It helps them learn about colors and develops perseverance and concentration. All of these point to the fact that painting is so good for toddlers and kids...yet we still wonder if it is worth the mess.

Well, here is a helpful tip for you...

1. strip down your kids

2. put them in a shower or bath

3. give them a paintbrush and some paint

4. let them have some fun!

They can paint the walls, the floor, bath toys, themselves! Let them explore, make a mess, use a brush, their fingers, or hands. They will learn hand-eye coordination, learn about spatial awareness, engage in some great sensory play, and clean up, all you have to do is rinse everything down!

Not only will your children be learning, but it will also give you a few moments of peace!
