So many people and charities have suffered during the pandemic, and are trying to catch up.

Check out the list below and see if there are a few new ways your family would like to help out!

25 Ways to Make a Difference in December

  1. Do a reverse Advent calendar.

  2. Support military families via Operation Christmas Spirit.

  3. Be a Secret Santa to family or friends that could use some encouragement by sending them a gift card for coffee, lunch, or a treat.

  4. Place a container of water-bottles and pre-packaged gifts on your porch for delivery people during the holidays. Have the kids help make a thank-you sign to attach to it.

  5. Make a donation to support The Ronald McDonald House, and families with very sick children.

  6. Prepare and drop off a wellness kit for someone going through health issues. Add warm socks, chapstick, crossword puzzles, chicken noodle soup, or any items that will cheer them up.

  7. Leave off hats, gloves, and blankets at a local homeless shelter.

  8. Consider buying cards and gifts from UNICEF, or local businesses that have suffered losses due to shutdowns this year.

  9. Leave off donuts and coffee for first responders, or local medical staffs.

  11. Grant One Simple WIsh to a kid in foster care.

  12. Drop off diapers to a local women's shelter, or daycare.

  13. Treat the teachers to a handwritten note and a gift.

  15. Shovel snow for the elderly in your neighborhood.

  16. Make holiday book reading videos and send them to younger kids you know.

  17. Support the Red Cross.

  18. Make a plan to support charities throughout the year in 2022 like the Magic Wheelchair next Halloween. Mark your calendar!

  19. Check the needs of your city Zoo or local animal shelters.

  20. Leave small treats on your neighbor’s porch.

  21. Collect books to donate to local shelters in need.

  22. Add some change to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

  23. Do something nice for the people in your home. Surprise them by making their bed, or doing a chore for them.

  24. Help Heifer International by donating money for livestock to help relieve hunger.

  25. Look for 3 ways to support small businesses this year.
